What content should you have on your website?

When thinking about content for your website it’s good to consider the following things:

  • Who is your audience, and what are their goals in visiting your website?
  • What are you trying to achieve through your website?
  • Can you make yourself available to update content regularly?

The most important thing to consider when you build your website is that you are creating it for your clients and customers, not for yourself.  Customers don’t need a detailed description of that time you ran a marathon. They really couldn’t care less. They want to get the information they need quickly.

A recruitment website has visitors that are potential clients or candidates. Two very different customers. So there has to be a separation in how you present your information. Clients want to know what you can do to help them find a perfect candidate. Candidates want to know what you can do to find them the perfect employment opportunity.

The Navigation Bar

Is there a best practice for your navigation bar layout?

Number 1: Keep it simple.

Don’t try to be clever. You’ll only confuse people. If you haven’t had a website before consider something similar to the navigation bar of this website.

About Page: Tell your audience about your business, what you do, your experience etc. This is where you can have a meet-the-team section with individual contact info and bio’s about each member of your team.

Expertise Page: Go into detail about your industries that you serve and the positions you fill.

Clients Page: Breakdown your approach when working with clients, the process and the steps you take to fulfill their requirements. Think about what makes you different from the rest and use that as a selling point.

Candidates Page: Breakdown your approach when working with candidates, the process and the steps you take to fulfill their requirements.

Blog/News/Resources Page: Are you going to have a blog or resources page? Think about the content you want share with your customers. Blogs are a great way to get return visits to your website. Combined with newsletters, ebooks, and social media updates you can create new leads that turn into more money for you. Ask us about new ways to grow your business through lead generation.
